BS5266:1999 Emergency Lighting Routine Planned Maintenance
Single Point Emergency Escape Lighting Systems
Current British standard BS:5266:1999 under Clause 12.4 requires the Owner/Occupier to carry out regular inspections as listed.
Daily: Record any defects and instigate repair
Monthly: Each luminaire to be energised via its battery to check illumination.
Half Yearly: Each luminaire to be energised via its battery for 60 or15minutes.
Annually: For luminaires that are three years or older. Each luminaire to be energised via its own battery for its rated standby duration.
FIRE PROTECTION
Fire X UK undertake the Monthly, Half Yearly and Annual Inspections to the listed schedules.
Monthly Inspection:
a; Check the log book
b; Energise each emergency luminaire in its non maintained mode by failing its permanent live feed for a period of time long enough to check full illumination but not exceeding 15mins.
c; Visually check all charging indicators are working on reconnection of permanent live feed.
d; Complete a visit report giving condition and recommended action.
e; Enter inspection in log book.
Half Yearly Inspection:
a; Check the log book
b; Check that all luminaires are in place and comply with BS5266.
b; Energise each emergency luminaire in its non maintained mode by failing its permanent live feed for15or60 min checking illumination at the end of discharge.
c; Visually check all charging indicators are working on reconnection of permanent live feed.
d; Complete a visit report giving condition and recommended action.
e; Enter inspection in log book.
Yearly Inspection:
a; Check the log book
b; Check that all luminaires are in place and comply with BS5266.
b; Energise each emergency luminaire in its non maintained mode by failing its permanent live feed for 1or3 hour checking illumination at the end of discharge.
c; Visually check all charging indicators are working on reconnection of permanent live feed.
d; Complete a visit report giving condition and recommended action.
e; Enter inspection in log book.
f; Generate and issue test certificate.
Remedial Work:
All remedial work on standard contracts will be quoted for and only actioned on receipt of an order number. Contracts can include standard cost diffuser cleaning and or retubing.
Contracts:
Contract can be made including any mix of inspections to suit the customer.
