Fire Hotel Had Four Warnings About Fire Regulations
A hotel that was reduced to ashes in a blaze that killed three people was given four prior warnings that it was trading illegally by failing to update its fire safety system.
An inquest was recently told how the Penhallow Hotel in Newquay, Cornwall, was repeatedly told it did not comply with the latest fire regulations months before it burned to the ground in the UK’s worst hotel fire for 40 years.
The hotel owners had failed to update the fire detection system in line with new regulations despite being advised to do so after an audit of the building.
